The Puppet Master – Fighting Game Concept Art

an elf with dark brown skin sits in the air, wearing a neon green mask made of wood. Behind her floats an ethereal masked spirit with enlarged, clawed hands.

This year I have been drawing concept art of fighting game characters. Previously, I posted live streams. Today, I’m sharing a finished art piece – the Puppet Master character.

Puppet Master is a fighting game archetype in the character roster. Their gimmick is that they are a fighter who also controls a puppet. For this character, I decided to play with the idea of a “puppet” and make the controlled character a spirit.

My first draft was closer in concept to the Earth spirit dancers of the Bwa people in Burkina Faso. But I decided to revisit the idea and draft a few more takes. I’m very pleased with how this turned out.

If you would like to see the process of drawing this piece, check out this stream archived on YouTube and here on the blog. Each step got done in Clip Studio Paint.

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading!

Flamingo Knight – A Twitch Stream Art Post

a man with a flamingo head stands at attention. He wears pink and gray armor with yellow and purple accents. The shoulders and hip pauldrons are covered in pink and light blue feathers. He holds a sword with pink and purple accents on the handle, and the blade has a pink and blue gradient color to it.

Why a flamingo knight? More like why NOT a flamingo knight?!

Not sure why, but this character popped into my head one day. And I went, “…I have to draw him.” I’m just happy I drew him live on Twitch.

I drew this fancy lad during a Twitch Stream this past Tuesday. An archived version on YouTube will be posted soon.

Want to see me draw a character live? Then tune in on Twitch on Tuesdays and Saturdays! I stream on those days at 2 pm EST.

(That said, no stream is happening tomorrow. The next stream will be Tuesday, August 16. Then Saturday, August 20 will be the one after that.)

That’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Inktober 2021, Days 11 to 17

There was a hiccup in this year’s Inktober, between days 11 and 17. I had to be offline for a few days due to a death in the family.

It’s been hard. I’m taking things one step at a time, and taking breaks to be gentle with myself. But drawing has been helping me move forward.

With that all said, let’s continue the adventure of Malaminx and Beatrice…

It’s quite a puzzler, ladies!

(By the way, for folks who backed The Legend of Jamie Roberts, volume 1 on KickStarter… there’s been a snafu. Please check the updates for more info.)

That’s all I have for now. Thank you for checking in.

Inktober IS Happening This Year!

Remember how I said I wouldn’t do Inktober in this previous check-in post? Well, Inktober IS happening!

I got inspired by vigoburrito and their webcomic, The Divine Intervention. They drew that comic one panel at a time and posted it on Instagram.

So I thought, “What if I drew a comic one panel at a time for Inktober?”

Here’s what’s been drawn as of yesterday, October 3rd:

inktober 2021 panel 1
inktober 2021 panel 2
inktober 2021 panel 3
inktober 2021 panel 4

Yup! I’m drawing witch kitties – like from Kitties By Kelci on RedBubble.

What will happen next? Be sure to tune in on my Instagram! I’ll also post once a week here on the blog with updates.

Because of Inktober (and other work), I’ll be updating this blog less frequently. Just once a week for now. But know that other projects (like KickStarter fulfillment and commissions) are coming along.

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading!
