Subscribe Page FAQs

Let’s address some frequently asked questions regarding my Subscribe Page and the Fan Clubs. (UPDATED JUNE 15, 2023)

“What is this?”

Subscribe is the home for my Fan Clubs. I made these Fan Clubs as an alternative to Patreon. For as little as $3 per month, you get supporter-exclusive content. But if you still have questions, I hope this page helps.

“Why build your own service? Why not use Ko-fi or Patreon?”

I’ve written this before in other posts and in emails. But I’ll say it again here. Patreon has, and continues to have, a lot of issues going on behind the scenes (like finding out they let go of their security team and why. Which – YIKES). In the past, that’s why I moved away from Patreon and towards Ko-fi.

However, Ko-fi is starting to not like the latest pages of my webcomic, The Legend of Jamie Roberts. Because how dare I depict male nipples or incorporate the F-word into my product listings?

To be honest, both of these platforms are starting to feel limiting. If I want to make the comics I want to draw and that you want to read, we have to find an alternative ourselves. That’s why I built the Subscribe Page for the Fan Clubs.

For a full breakdown of why I built my own alternative, check out this video or even this post where I chat with my artist buddy Jade, who also left Patreon.

“Do I have to make an account?”

Nope! Stripe processes the payments. All it needs is a name, email, address (if you’re getting things mailed to you), and a payment method. That’s it! No account needed.

“I want to Subscribe to one of your Fan Clubs. Do I pay for one month at a time, or pay for the number of months I want to subscribe?”

The system is set up so that when you purchase a membership, you’re charged for your first month on checkout. After that, the membership renews based on your sign-up date. (e.g. if you join on the 1st, you buy for one month, and you get charged again on the 1st of the following month). So if you only want to pledge for a certain number of months, that’s up to you to track it. You can manage your membership at any time by going to this page.

“Can I buy a Membership for a year so I’m only charged once?”

As of right now, there’s only one way to Subscribe to one of the Fan Clubs for a year, and that is to back one of my crowdfunding campaigns on KickStarter, Crowdfundr, or Ko-Fi. One-year memberships are available during campaigns as an add-on reward.

“My financial situation has changed. How do I cancel my Membership?”

You can manage your memberships here.

If all else fails, there should be a link on your email receipt with the option to cancel your memberships. If you can’t find it, reach out to me at kelcidcrawford@gmail.com and I can cancel it for you. No questions asked.

“Will you list your Club Rewards in your Ko-Fi shop?”

It depends on the rewards. If they DO go to my shop, they are usually posted one month after Club members receive their rewards. Club members, as always, get first dibs.

Still have questions? Leave a comment and let me know. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading!

No Streams October 22 or 23 – I’m Away At Aistear Con!

live streams every saturday and sunday at 2 pm est*. One block says 10/22 Off - Away at Aistear Con! The second block says 10/23 Off - Away at Aistear Con! The bottom block said twitch.tv/kelcidcrawford and youtube.com/c/kelcid. *subject to change whenever the heck I feel like it - or because of conventions or the cruds.

I will not be streaming on October 22 or 23. Why? Because I’m away at Aistear Con in Bowling Green, OH! The show will be held at Aistear Brewing on Route 25 for all 3 days.

If you’re in the Toledo area, I hope to see you there. I’m marking down a lot of stickers, prints, grab bags, and other merch for clearance.

Because of that – my online store will be closed this weekend. The stock for the shop is the same as I use for conventions. Any clearance items I still have afterward will get marked down in the online store.

Stay tuned, however…

Next Weekend, I’m launching a new KickStarter campaign!

If you want to be among the first to claim rewards, be sure to get on my email newsletter. The newsletter peeps are the first to know.

After that, I return to streaming on YouTube two days in a row – October 29 and 30! More updates on that coming soon.

That’s all for now. Be sure to come back Thursday for an Inktober update.

Thank you for reading!

Week 2 of Inktober

On we go to week 2 of Inktober. If you missed my sketches from week 1, check them out in this previous post.

For those who don’t know – Inktober is an artist’s challenge to draw in ink every day in October. Usually, people create prompt lists. I pick a theme and draw to it. This year’s theme is characters from my stories! These are from comics, written work, Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, and other places.

Let’s get into what I drew for Week 2.

Day 7

Gunter, a half-human, half-Uther from my upcoming comic, The Uthers. I’ll be working on the second draft of this story for National Novel Writing Month next month!

Day 7 is Gunter, a half-man, half-uther from the upcoming comic, The Uthers. Here we see a young man with some thicker muscles, pointed ears, and white skin with tinges of green on the joints. His hands and face look human, but his feet have clawed toes. He wears a gray toga and blue cape with light green trim on it. His horns are turquoise and his helmet is deep green.

Day 8

Avery Johnson, from my webcomic Johnson & Sir. I MIGHT bring the book back into print. But if I do, there will be some big changes. (They may be big enough to warrant a second edition and a crowdfunding campaign to get it done).

Day 9

Jamie Roberts, from The Legend of Jamie Roberts. If you haven’t read the comic by now, you really should. It’s free to read online.

Day 10

Virgil Weiss, from my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. He’s my bard player’s love interest. A diehard romantic, he’s enamored with Malus’ love story.

a sketchbook page showing a red-skinned demon man with white hair. His black leather jacket flies open to show off his lean chest. He holds a whip in one hand and balances a small knife on one finger in the other.

Day 11

Fuloos Abieris, from (working title) Fwishi’shi. I finished writing the rough draft on Monday (Jeff yeah!). He’s a biographer and radio show host who lives by the sea.

a sketchbook page showing a bird man with red feathers. He's wearing formal wear with sand scattering on the bottom of the pants legs. He wipes his glasses with the corner of his vest.

Day 12

Kay, from my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The Last Valkyrie alive, they are also a Sage of the Void and sworn enemy of the Angels of Jehovah. Kay’s on a quest to rescue their mother from their clutches and kill Viktor the Arch Throne.

a sketchbook page showing a feminine-presenting genderqueer person with a white mohawk and freckles on their face, chest, and arms. As their black dress flows around them, they wield two swords and a confident smirk.

Day 13

Viktor the Arch Throne, from my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The Angel who stole Kay’s mother. His arm had been torn off by Malus (from Day 6 last week). His quest is to kill Malus and Kay.

sketchbook page showing a man in white uniform with one arm, no eyes or nose, and a large, unnatural grin on his face. In his only hand he holds a massive bastard sword with a face in the hilt and an eye in the pommel. He has two sets of wings, one of which has golden eyes staring out. Over his head are three nested halos covered in eyeballs.

Come back Sunday at 2 pm EST! I’m drawing more Inktober sketches live on YouTube. Feel free to lurk while I work.

And be sure to come back next Thursday for the sketches from Week 3!

The characters this week are in stories I talk about in more depth with my Digital Club Members. You can Subscribe for a month here, or get a 6-month subscription on Ko-Fi. Either way, you’ll get access to scripts, sketches, and story previews no one else sees.

That’s all for now. Thank you for stopping by!
