30 Day Digital Sketch Challenge: Day 10

Day 10 of the Digital Sketch Challenge! and I’m back to my original characters!

This is Roxy. I drew her before, around Day…8, I think? I can’t remember. I’m bad at that.

I wanted her to pose in a way that reflected her as a character, and she IS a strong, independent woman…who has “DFTBA” tattooed on her arm (Ok, part of the reason I did this pose was to show off the tattoo a little). It stands for “Don’t Forget to be Awesome”, and is the catchphrase/creed of Nerdfighters. If you don’t know who they are, go and google it because I don’t believe you.

I’m currently working with her on a short story, and I love how she’s developing! She’s turning out to be very thoughtful and very mature, especially around the topic of death (well, she would have to be, since she had cancer).

However, I hope that my next sketches will have more dynamic poses for my characters. I’m not sure if I want to start drawing full-on action yet, but I’d like to get them slightly more active and…asymmetrical.

30 Day Digital Sketch Challenge No.9: Tack (again)

Day 9 of the Digital Sketch Challenge, and I’m back to Tack.

I was actually in a bit of a rush to make this, because I want to get back to work on my comic I’m making for my Advanced Painting class. I feel bad for that, but hopefully the quality hasn’t suffered because of it.

30 Day Digital Sketch Challenge: Day 7

Day 7 of the Digital Sketch Challenge, and I’m dipping into another fandom. What the hell?

First Tack, and now Cell. This sketch challenge had gone from adorable to face-slappingly smug in 24 hours.

But yes, I’m a fangirl of Dragonball Kai. To those of you who say you prefer DBZ over DB: Kai, I say you cannot appreciate a series that actually sticks closely to its source material and you like 20-minute-long screaming FAR too much.

Don’t get me wrong! DBZ has its good points, but it’s primarily great material for riffing it Mystery-Science-Theater-3000-style.

As for this sketch, I actually really like the loose but bold lines and the shading I used. But what do you folks think? Let me know in the comments!

The fascinating character of Cell belongs to Akira Toriyama, Toei Animation, and FUNImation. I don’t own him.

30 Day Digital Sketch Challenge: Day 6

Day 6 of the 30 Day Digital Sketch Challenge, and I drew another sketch of Tack the Cobbler from “The Thief and the Cobbler”.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d call myself a fangirl. >.>

This is actually the second version I did of this sketch, because while I was working on the first version of this, my computer pulled a derp and I had to shut it down. When I restarted it, the sketch was lost.

Thankfully, he’s really easy to draw multiple times.

I left it as the line work because I just couldn’t imagine actually coloring this in. I wanted it to be just the lines.

Let me know what you think in the comments!
